Dawn Akemi Saito is an actor, writer, movement artist, director. Her performance credits include 太阳就是太阳, 血樱桃, HA, Knock on the Sky, Hiroshima 梅den, 雅顿/阿登, My House Is Collapsing Toward One Side, Deshima, Memory Retrograde, 自杀森林. Her work has been performed at the Walker Art Center, Orpheum Theatre (Graz, 奥地利), Berkshire Theater Festival, 惠特尼博物馆, 跳舞 Theater Workshop, New York Theater Workshop, 拉妈妈, 电气小屋, Public Theater. She has worked with artists such as JoAnne Akalaitis (Hartford Stage), Roman Paska (Public Theater, Théâtre du Rond-Point), 比尔T. Jones (BAM), John Jesurun (Japan Society), Ping Chong (La Mama), Dan Hurlin (St. Ann’s Warehouse), Charles Mee (跳舞 Theater Workshop), Kristine Haruna Lee, 阿雅小川, 玛丽亚Mileaf, Erik Ehn, 罗伯特·伍德乐夫, 弗雷德何, 玛拉该城, Jonathan Rosenberg, 塞布丽娜派克, 约瑟夫·贾曼, Yusef Komunyakaa, Fiona Templeton. She is an artist in residence in the theater department program at Fordham University (林肯中心), where she has directed 麦克白, Jen Silverman’s Phoebe in Winter艾萨·戴维斯 芦苇, 酒神之女伴的. She guest teaches at the National Theater Institute, Princeton University, the graduate acting program at NYU, where she co-created Love Suicide/Hikikomori. She also cofounded 和 codirects the Bard Summer Theater Intensive in Berlin. Saito is the recipient of International Theater Institute’s Uchimura Prize, which is given to an individual or group outside Japan for a project that relates to Japanese theater, a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council to study butoh in Japan.
